PERFORMANCE
\nBAMBU is a project dedicated to bringing together the contemporary African and European art scenes, built through a network of relationships based on dialogue and reciprocity. This edition presents three solo performances by Linda Sarki Johnson (Nigeria), St\u00e9phanie Mwamba (Democratic Republic of the Congo) and Diana Odhiambo (Kenya). Three artists who, through different artistic languages, explore themes as identity, memory, the condition of women and social change. Their works capture the vitality of a constantly evolving artistic scene, capable of weaving together local traditions and global perspectives, opening up new ways of looking at the present.<\/p>\n
COMPANY AND CHOREOGRAPHERS<\/p>\n
Conceived by Roberto Castello and promoted by ALDES, BAMBU was created to raise awareness of contemporary dance from sub-Saharan Africa and to foster opportunities for collaboration between artists, practitioners and cultural institutions. The artists involved represent complementary career paths: the Nigerian Linda Sarki Johnson, a performer with the QDance Company and committed to training the next generation; St\u00e9phanie Mwamba from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a choreographer and founder of the Ochula Centre in Minova, whose work blends traditional and contemporary dance; and Diana Odhiambo from Kenya, who is active in pan-African interdisciplinary projects and a graduate of the \u00c9cole des Sables in Senegal.
