Earlier this year Liam Francis (choreographer and dancer) completed an R&D at South East Dance exploring the connection between respiratory rhythm and emotional state, as well as how respiratory rhythm (breathing) could be used as a sound scape.
This residency with ARTEFICI.ResidenzeCreativeFVG allows Liam to expand the exploration of this subject by collaborating with artists from different disciplines. This support and collaboration allows for a deeper investigation of the sensitive and vast subject matters of breathing, emotions, movement and sound.
Liam Francis is a dance artist from Brighton, UK. Between 2014-21 he danced with Rambert Dance Company; performing works by Bruce, Cherkaoui, Cunningham, Duke, Eyal, McGregor, Motin, Shechter, Vandekeybus and Veldman. His duet 'Dual Till the Death' won multiple awards at RIDCC and Choreography Competition Hannover in 2022. He has been commissioned by Rambert, Skànesdansteater, Ballett Theater Trier and Shechter2.
