Megastructure deconstructs the traditional boundaries of theatre and dance, challenging audience expectations and questioning what is essential to a performance—music, set design, lighting. The duet functions like a puzzle, with its elements continuously taken apart, reworked, tested, and reinvented. Without a musical score or stage design, Megastructure is a choreographic piece which generates its own musicality through the percussive energy of the performers on stage.

Sarah Baltzinger and Isaiah Wilson began co-directing several projects in 2022, including Megastructure. In 2023, they competed in the Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition, winning multiple awards. That same year, they were also selected as Aerowaves Twenty24 artists with Megastructure, performing at the Spring Forward Festival.

Andrea Costanzo Martini’s new creation, performed together with Francesca Foscarini, brings together two accomplished dancers for a performance that celebrates their experience. Drawing inspiration from the symbolism of the horse as an emblem of grace, strength and freedom, the performance humorously explores the similarities between the animal and the dancer-performer. Both are admired creatures, shaped by an imaginary world that often conceals a reality characterised by hard work, strict discipline and complex power dynamics.

Andrea Costanzo Martini is a dancer and choreographer trained in contemporary dance and ballet. He has performed with both the Batsheva Dance Company and Cullberg Ballet. He has been a certified Gaga teacher since 2007 and has led workshops worldwide. Since 2013, he has been creating and performing his own works internationally. His choreographic language blends extreme physicality with theatrical storytelling and employs irony and humour to challenge expectations of contemporary dance.
