In Golden Age, Greek National Opera Ballet Director Konstantinos Rigos creates an endless party. Drawing inspiration from the references, obsessions, and images that have shaped him, his own invented dance vocabulary, and the diverse musical styles that constantly play in his mind, he presents a manifesto for a generation eager to sweep everything away. The show charts a new era that promises happiness for all, while acknowledging that sadness, melancholy, and the struggle for acceptance are ever-present.
Born in Athens, Konstantinos Rigos studied economics and graduated from the National School of Greek Dance. He has been the director of the Greek National Opera Ballet since February 2018. In October 2019, he became president of the National School of Greek Dance, from which he graduated.
This international tour is made possible by a grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) to enhance the Greek National Opera’s artistic outreach.
